Las Rosas VI

Definitely one less-than-happy photo subject in this one. Sorry.

Las Rosas V

I don't know if the one on the left didn't want her picture taken, or was just bored.

Las Rosas I

If you don't recall our earlier account of the Medio Maraton Las Rosas, here's a summary. We walked. Nobody else did. Various spectators found this amusing. Or at least, I think this woman did. A good time was had by all.

Heidi Julissa

You may remember our account of the Las Rosas Half Marathon, sometime last year. This was one of the more unusual sights along the route. There was a brief parade that featured several five-year-olds in little prom dresses, riding on the hoods of kinda-decked-out cars, sometimes tossing candy to the crowd, but mostly looking bored. No further explanation or purpose was apparent. More pictures of the sights along the race route forthcoming over the next few days, or maybe weeks.

Family Style

This is a rare find - the dad almost always gets to wear the helmet, if anyone bothers to wear the helmet at all. Shot on the highway; we were going highway speed and their bike was probably doing the max it could with three passengers.

A Picture of a Door

Sometimes in this crazy modern world, photographers who aren't able to create particularly compelling images use the easy tools of the computer age to amp up the colors and contrast on an otherwise not-all-that-thrilling shot. It's a cheap trick, and you can see the reaction to it in the kind of flat-looking pictures that are of the moment in the art photography world, if you wanted to. We were at a museum this weekend where many of the photos looked almost like snapshots, or were deliberately underexposed. I guess that sets those photos apart from the cheap Photoshop tricks. This picture of a door is one of the cheap Photoshop tricks. Sorry.

Antigua Market VII

This is one that almost turned out well, but didn't quite, but I still kinda like it. But we're getting toward the bottom of the barrel on the Antigua market; something new next week, probably.

Antigua Market VI

Telephones for rent. I would guess this is a dying business as cell phones are pretty cheap and payable by the second.

(And yes, there were two pictures called "Antigua Market III", so now we're skipping "V". You're not missing anything.)
